Thank"full" prayer?

Prayer is always a challenge.  There is a reason why it is classified as a "spiritual discipline"; it is a part of my spiritual life that I am constantly challenged.  The most recent investigation of my prayer life found that I have become very request-based and lacked in the area of thankfulness.   I know there are so many things to be grateful to God for in my life however I was not expressing them to Him.  I can only imagine what that must seem like to God to have given all for a relationship and all He hears is how I want more from Him.  So because of that revelation I have spent today and will continue over the next several days dedicating all of my prayer time to giving thanks.  This has been a highly refreshing challenge for me as I have been forced to think on all of the many blessings that go unappreciated every day.

Chip, its so easy to become self focused when we are praying... Sometimes we even start to praise God but do it because we are trying to "butter him up" or earn some sort of prayer. True prayer is worship based out of nothing but love for the creator. Its much more refreshing than worrying about yourself ive found. why's it so hard?

i was challenged by Smooth when he said that he had stopped asking God for anything. THought that was neat. He already knows what we need anyway...
