Today we started hosting the Innovate Church Conference at Thomas Road. I was able to hear Lance Witt (former Exec. Pastor of Saddleback Church) and Dave Earley (Former pastor and current professor at LTS) speak on what a healthy pastor and church is in a "pre-conference" session that I was hosting this afternoon. After the session I had a great dinner with Mark DeYmaz, Mosaic Church, who is on the front edge of educating church leaders towards embracing "multi-ethnic" church. Thanks to you for your time and my head is still spinning!
The conference officially had its start with Rick Warren, Saddleback Church, speaking on the "heart" of the pastor. I was refreshed and challenged. He spoke to us as someone who loves pastors and displayed it evidently.

The main thing I walked away with was the Traps of Leadership from 1 John 2:
- Lust of flesh = temptation to feel good
- Lust of eyes = temptation to have
- Pride of life = temptation to be
He followed up the Traps with these anecdotes for each:
- Integrity = don't be compartmentalized be whole
- Generosity = giving away so that I am not owned by my possessions
- Humility = civility--evidence is seen by how I treat those I don't get along with and honesty about my weaknesses
